Credit Card Interest-Rate Scam Refuses to Die

Has “Rachel from Card Services” called you?
Telephone fraudsters know that Americans are fed up with high interest rates on their credit card balances and have for years been trying to cash in on that frustration by tricking consumers into paying them as much as several thousand dollars for bogus rate reduction programs.
This con, often initiated by pre-recorded robocallers like “Rachel,” has been going on for years. And despite numerous enforcement actions by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), it just won’t go away.
Bikram Bandy, coordinator of the FTC’s Do Not Call Program, says he is concerned that many people are falling for the scam – and losing money – when offered the “too-good-to-be true” promise of unrealistically low interest rates.
“It’s disheartening that this scam continues, and it does continue because the scammers are still making money from it,” Bandy told NBC News.

Avoiding a Credit Repair Scam

There are many ways you can verify if a company you select is safe to work with. It is important to do proper verification so you are not scammed. The things you should consider include keeping you informed, fees, encouraging illegal acts, and more.

As a consumer you need to know what your rights are. There are so many people out there who get scammed all of the time. It is true they are doing something to help their credit but the problem is that they don’t research and they are not aware of the things they can do.

If you pay the debt off entirely it will still remain on your credit report. The item will show as paid off and will reflect less debt you owe, but it cannot be permanently removed from your credit report earlier than the seven year time frame. If a business makes promises to you like this they are unrealistic and chances are good they are a scamming business.

Always read a contract before you sign it. Thousands of people are scammed every year due to illegitimate businesses scamming people while they want to fix their credit. It is important to be sure that you read all of the fine print. Read every little word on the contract and be sure there is nothing printed that does not look right. If there is have a new contract drawn up without the stipulations you do not agree with. If the business will not draw a contract you agree to then go with someone else. You do not want to be scammed.

If the credit repair company tells you that you need to do something that doesn’t seem legal or right to you it is important to back away. Don’t ever falsify documents, create fake business ID numbers or do anything that doesn’t feel right. Be sure the company you are working with is working straight by the book so you can repair your credit properly.

There are many things to think about when you want to avoid being scammed in repairing your credit. The best ways to avoid a scam include repairing your credit on your own, paying close attention to the company and being very clear about what your rights are. Educate yourself. Don’t go with any company that makes you feel uncomfortable in any way. Read all of the fine print before you sign a contract and be comfortable with who you choose to help you repair your credit. These things are very important.

Avoid credit repair scams by hiring a great team of professionals with extensive knowledge on credit. Hire the team at MSI credit solutions.

You’ve just seen the car of your dreams, but you’re not sure if the price is right. In a few steps, you can calculate your potential car payments and decide if you’ll be able to afford a new ride.

Step 1: Convert the interest rate percentage to a decimal
Convert your loan’s interest rate to a decimal number by dropping the percent sign and dividing the number by 100.

Step 2: Divide decimal number by 12
Divide the interest rate on your car loan by 12. Write this number on a piece of paper.

Step 3: Multiply by your car loan principal
Multiply the number by the loan’s principal amount — the total amount of your car loan. Write this number down, as it will be used in your final calculation.

Tip
Remember to subtract any down payment you might make from the new car’s purchase price when figuring out the principal amount.

Step 4: Add 1 plus the interest divided by 12
Recall the number you got from dividing the interest rate by 12 in step 2. Add 1 to this number.

Step 5: Multiply sum by itself, using number of payments as exponent
Take the sum from step 4 raised to the power of the number of months included in the term of your loan. For example, if you will make 36 monthly payments, multiply the sum from step 4 by itself 36 times.

Step 6: Calculate 1 divided by this sum
Calculate 1 divided by the result from step of your multiplication.

Tip
Round this number to the nearest hundredths place to make it easier to work with.

Step 7: Subtract sum from 1
Subtract this number from 1. Jot this number down for use in your final calculation.

Tip
Avoid the math by using car payment calculators found on many auto dealer and bank websites.

Step 8: Divide the first number by the second
Divide the number from step 3 by the number from step 7 for your final monthly car payment. Think about whether this will fit into your monthly budget. If so, you might want to ride off in that dream car.
